What are cookies?

Cookies are small pieces of data stored by your browser when you visit a website. Some are essential for the site to function, others enable analytics, and others enable personalized advertising. This page lists every cookie and browser-storage entry that may be set by visiting My Car Value Check.

First-party cookies

None. Our application sets no cookies on the mycarvaluecheck.com domain.

First-party browser storage

One sessionStorage entry is written by our own JavaScript:

  • qc_sticky_dismissed — remembers that you closed the sticky mobile-footer ad so it doesn't reappear during the same browsing session. Cleared when you close the tab. Not used for tracking.

Calculator inputs are not stored. When you click "Copy Share Link," the values are written into the URL query string so you can share the result; they are not persisted in cookies, localStorage, or sessionStorage.

Third-party cookies

The site loads scripts from Google AdSense and Google Analytics on first user interaction (a tap, click, or keypress). Visitors who view a page without interacting do not load these scripts and do not receive their cookies.

Google Analytics 4

Used to measure aggregate traffic. Cookies set on the .google-analytics.com and .googletagmanager.com domains:

  • _ga — distinguishes unique visitors. Expires after 2 years.
  • _ga_<property-id> — persists session state for GA4. Expires after 2 years.

Google AdSense

Used to serve display advertising. Cookies typically set on the .google.com, .googlesyndication.com, and .doubleclick.net domains:

  • __gads — ad delivery and frequency capping. Expires after ~13 months.
  • __gpi — ad personalization preferences. Expires after ~13 months.
  • IDE (set by DoubleClick) — campaign measurement and personalization. Expires after ~13 months.
  • NID — Google account preferences. Expires after ~6 months.

The exact set of AdSense cookies varies based on whether ads on a given page render personalized or non-personalized creatives, and whether the visitor is signed into a Google account.

How to opt out

Note on consent (EU / UK / California)

This site does not yet operate a Consent Management Platform. Visitors subject to GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA, or CPRA who wish to refuse non-essential cookies before they are set should use one of the opt-out mechanisms above or a browser configured to block third-party cookies. For a full account of what data is collected and the legal basis, see our Privacy Policy.
