Overview
My Car Value Check (operated by QuickCalcs) is a free, browser-based car depreciation calculator. We require no account, do not store the figures you type into the calculator, and do not sell user data. The site is advertising-supported, which means it loads scripts from Google's AdSense and Analytics services — those scripts may set cookies under their own privacy policies. This page explains exactly what is collected, by whom, and how to opt out.
What We Do Not Collect Ourselves
We operate no user database. The application has no sign-up, no login, and no email collection. The numbers you enter into the calculator are processed entirely in your browser using JavaScript — they are never sent to a database we control or written to our application logs.
Browser Storage We Use
The site itself sets no first-party cookies. The only browser storage written by our own code is a single sessionStorage entry, qc_sticky_dismissed, that remembers whether you clicked the close button on the sticky mobile-footer ad so it doesn't reappear during the same browsing session. sessionStorage is cleared automatically when you close the tab.
Calculator inputs are not stored at all — when you click "Copy Share Link," the values are written into the URL query string so you can share the result with someone, but they live only in that URL.
Third-Party Services
The site loads the following third-party scripts on first user interaction (a tap, click, or key press). Visitors who view a page without interacting do not load these scripts and do not receive their cookies.
Google AdSense
We display advertising through Google AdSense (publisher ID ca-pub-9341177004679621). AdSense and its advertising partners may set cookies for ad delivery, frequency capping, and (where personalization is allowed) interest-based targeting. Common AdSense cookies include __gads, __gpi, IDE, and NID. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings. See Google's advertising privacy policy for details on what AdSense collects.
Google Analytics 4
We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-8NSGCME1CK) to understand aggregate traffic patterns — which pages are visited, what country traffic comes from, what browsers are used. GA4 sets cookies typically named _ga and _ga_<property-id>.
When the calculator runs, it sends a calculate_depreciation event to Google Analytics containing: vehicle make, model, purchase year, original purchase price, and the resulting depreciation percentage. This data is aggregated by Google for analytics reporting only — it is not linked to your name, email, or any other personal identifier by us. To disable Google Analytics globally across all sites, install the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-on.
Google Fonts
We load the Barlow Condensed and DM Sans typefaces from Google Fonts. Google may log your IP address when font files are requested. See Google's Privacy Policy.
jsDelivr CDN (Chart.js)
The interactive depreciation chart is rendered using Chart.js, which we load on demand from the jsDelivr CDN. jsDelivr does not track individual users. See jsDelivr's Privacy Policy.
Affiliate Links
Outbound links to vehicle-buying services (Carvana, CarMax, KBB Instant Cash Offer, Peddle, Vroom, Cars.com), insurance comparison sites (Jerry, The Zebra), extended warranty providers (Endurance, CarShield), auto-loan refinance services (Credit Karma, LendingTree), and product retailers (Amazon) are partner links. Clicks pass through our /out/{partner} redirect endpoint so we can count how many visitors are referred to each partner and, in some cases, receive a referral commission if you complete a transaction. The redirect logs only the partner name, the page that referred the click, the request timestamp, and the user-agent string. It does not log your vehicle data, your browsing history elsewhere on the site, or any personal identifier beyond what your hosting provider's standard access log records (see Server Logs below).
Server Logs
Our hosting provider, like every web host, keeps standard access logs that include client IP address, request URL, response status, user-agent, and timestamp. These logs are retained for a short window (typically 7–30 days) for security and operational diagnostics. They are not used for behavioral profiling or marketing.
What We Do Not Do
- We do not sell, rent, or share user data with anyone outside the named third parties above.
- We do not build user profiles, retargeting audiences, or email lists from this site.
- We do not store any vehicle details you enter into the calculator on our servers.
- We do not set first-party tracking cookies. The only first-party browser storage we write is the single sessionStorage entry described above.
Visitors in the EU, UK, and California
This site does not yet operate a Consent Management Platform (CMP). If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with similar consent-before-tracking rules, we recommend that you (a) install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on linked above, (b) opt out of personalized AdSense advertising at Google Ads Settings, or (c) use a browser that blocks third-party cookies by default. Under GDPR / UK GDPR / CCPA / CPRA, you also have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data held about you by Google or any other named third party — request that directly from the relevant provider, since we do not maintain a first-party copy of any of it.
Children's Privacy
This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the site, contact us and we will work with the relevant third-party service to remove it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the services we use change their own practices. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We recommend reviewing this page periodically.
